    Maintenance: Cleaning Your Treadmill

Landice treadmills are built to take miles and miles and miles of distance. And even though they are designed to commercial standards, they still need a little TLC now and then. Here are some tips to keep your machine healthy and clean for the long haul:

    • Exterior: After every run, you should wipe any perspiration off of any exterior components. At least once a week during regular usage, give the treadmill frame a good clean. You can use either Simple Green Cleaner or a diluted (a few drops per cup) solution of Dawn dishwashing detergent and water.
    • Treadbelt: The Treadbelt can be cleaned by setting the treadmill at 3-4 mph and running a soft bristle nylon brush on the belt to loosen any dirt and debris. After brushing, turn off the treadmill and attach an upholstery brush to your vacuum and proceed to vacuum off the belt rotating it as you go to get rid all loose dirt. Next, spray Simple Green on a clean soft cloth and wipe the belt down rotating it as necessary. Do not soak the belt with the cleaner. Finally, use the same cloth to wipe down the sides of the belt and exposed deck area. Never use products like Armor All or other similar detailing products or you will be slip sliding away when you go to work out!
    • Motor Cover: Unplug the treadmill and remove the screws holding down the motor cover. There is a piece of velcro holding down the front of the cover which should be easily removed by lifting upwards. Using an upholstery brush on your vacuum and being mindful of the circuit boards and electrical connections, vacuum out the motor pan, vents in the drive motor, and the vents in the motor cover. Replace the motor cover and screws when done.
    • Workout Area: It’s always a good idea to keep the area where your equipment is placed clean and debris-free so you don’t track anything on to the machine. Vacuum around the treadmill. Remember, to elevate the treadmill and vacuum underneath it.

If you follow these tips regularly, should be able to maintain your Landice investment and keep both machine and body running healthy.
